Places of interest
A small village located in the Els Ports Natural Park. Enjoy a leisurely walk around its traditional layout, with steep and narrow streets and steps winding their way up to the early-Gothic Santa Maria church (thirteenth-century) at the top of the village.
The countryside around Paüls is rich in ground water with plentiful natural springs: some of the most well-known ones are the sixteen springs at Font de Sant Roc, and sites such as the Montsagre, Ullals, Glòries, and Morellar springs among others.
The picnic area at Sant Roc is well worth a visit with its stone seats and tables, one for every family in the town who have exclusive use of them for the celebrations of Saint Roch’s feast day on 16th August. A beautiful woodland area with sixteen natural springs, and an eighteenth-century chapel.

For more serious walkers, different routes explore the Els Ports mountains visiting local landmarks and natural sites such as the Montsagre or Alfara mountains, the Punta de l’Aigua summit, the Canals and Camp mountain passes, and the La Vall and Tossa natural areas. Caving and potholing enthusiasts will enjoy investigating the local caves and natural pits.
