Catalan government to create the <a href=\"http:\/\/parcsnaturals.gencat.cat\/es\/xarxa-de-parcs\/ports\/inici\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Els Ports Natural Park<\/a>\u00a0and the Les Fagedes Nature Reserve in 2001. These regulations guarantee the protection of this mountainous area and ensure a sustainable use of resources.<\/p>\n<p>The history of local people\u2019s relationship with these mountains can be seen in the remains of old houses, dry stone walls, deposits for collecting snow, lime kilns, charcoal kilns, and stone tracks, but nowadays this area is principally a wild area with a rich variety of fauna and flora waiting for you to discover. Covering such a wide area, the Park actually forms part of nine different municipalities in three different regions: Baix Ebre, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montsia.cat\/turisme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Montsi\u00e0<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"http:\/\/terra-alta.org\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Terra Alta<\/a>. Southeastern Spanish Ibex (<em>Capra pyrenaica hispanica<\/em>), a native goat to the Iberian Peninsula.
