><p><strong>L&#8217;Assut: <\/strong>A weir stretching across the River Ebro completed in the fifteenth century using Muslim engineering skills to collect water for running watermills and irrigating farmland using two canals on each side of the river which were eventually constructed centuries later. The left-bank canal was officially opened in 1912 by King Alfonso XIII of Spain. Interesting sites around l\u2019Assut include riverside beaches, the Bassot de Fons wooded area, and a boat landing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sant Miquel church: <\/strong>A three-nave church built in 1793 in a transitional style between Baroque and Neo-classical architecture. A Gothic reredos (a kind of decorated altarpiece), originally from the nearby Card\u00f3 monastery, was destroyed during the Spanish Civil War.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Park and River Ebro: <\/strong>A peaceful park area beside the river, ideal for relaxing and enjoying beautiful views of the Ebro. There is a bar-restaurant in the park.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Som Castle:<\/strong> Now in ruins, Som Castle is a small area of fortified walls with arrowslits for defence purposes which now offers a stunning panoramic view of the Ebro Valley and l\u2019Assut.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tivenys.altanet.org\/centre-dinterpretacio-de-la-pesca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Fishing Visitor Centre<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>La Torre.<\/strong> A three-floor rectangular building in the centre of town which originally formed part of the series of defence towers protecting both sides of the lower Ebro.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Sorra olive oil mill: <\/strong>Back in 1957, Francisco Beltran Barber\u00e0 bought an old olive mill which used traditional stone presses for oil extraction. Over the years the process has been modernized and it is now a principal producer of oil in Tivenys. Guided tours are available to learn about the olive oil production process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Iberian settlement:<\/strong> The remains of an ancient Iberian settlement partly dating back to the seventh century BC. The settlement includes the ruins of a series of buildings or houses with a unique defence structure, and a tower-house dated to the sixth century BC.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n\n<style
